In a harrowing incident early Sunday, two vendors were subjected to a robbery by four masked assailants, reportedly armed with firearms and knives, at the La Penitence Market located on Saffon Street, Georgetown.
The victims, identified as stall holders Shoba (surname withheld) and her husband, Bisnauth, recounted the frightening ordeal to Kaieteur News. According to Shoba, the four bandits, two of whom brandished firearms while the others wielded knives, brazenly vaulted over the counter of their stall. With menacing demands, they coerced the couple into surrendering their cell phones, jewelry, and an unspecified amount of cash.
Following the heist, the perpetrators swiftly made their escape, leaving the shaken vendors unharmed but undoubtedly traumatized by the ordeal.
