Joint Operation Leads to Narcotics Seizure and Arrests

Two individuals are currently in custody following a joint operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) and the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard. The operation, which took place at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, resulted in the interception of a “go fast” vessel with two occupants on board.
Upon searching the vessel, authorities discovered a significant quantity of narcotics, along with a quantity of fuel and other items. Subsequently, the two individuals aboard the vessel were arrested.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations into the matter continue. Further details regarding the nature and quantity of the narcotics seized have not been disclosed at this time.
