Police have unearthed 193 grams of cannabis in a routine operation conducted at a shop in Barama Line in Baramita, North West District, at about 18:30h on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, ranks from Regional Division One (Barima-Waini) visited the shop and conducted a search thereof in presence of the person left in charge in the owner’s absence. Some 12 transparent Ziplock parcels containing seeds, leaves and stems were unearthed, along with a black plastic bag holding a similar substance. These items were all hidden beneath the shop’s counter.
The 22-year-old man who was in charge of the shop was immediately arrested and escorted to the Baramita Police Station, where the narcotics, when weighed in his presence, amounted to 193 grams. This suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. (G9)
