Three men in custody for alleged murder of food vendor

Three men were arrested on Monday for the alleged murder of Nigel Somersoll, a food vendor of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice).

Police Headquarters reported that one of the suspects, 55-year-old Calwyn Croal called Brother Croal, turned himself in at the Wismar Police Station accompanied by his lawyer at about 17:54 hrs Monday.

Two other suspects, Jamal Fullington, a 22-year-old construction worker/miner of Victory Valley, Linden, and Shaquan Miller, a 19-year-old Pork-knocker of Blueberry Hill, Linden, were arrested earlier Monday for questioning concerning the alleged murder.

Further investigations are ongoing.

Somersoll was reportedly attacked outside of his house early Monday morning. His cousin found Somersoll’s body lying face down in the yard after she heard gunshots outside.

Somersoll’s body was examined and there was one suspected gunshot wound to his chest and what appeared to be a laceration to his head.

He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
